Event Format

  • Round Robin with 4 pools of 5 teams.
  • Each team will play 4 games within their pool and 1 ranked crossover game against a team from another pool.
  • This event will adhere to the World Curling Federation (WCF) rulebook. All equipment must comply with WCF regulations and be approved for use in official competition. If tied after 8 ends, a full extra end is played toward the glass.

Games

  • Games will be 8 ends.
  • If tied after 8 ends, a full extra end will be played toward the glass.
  • Games are expected to be completed within 2 hours of the first rock being thrown in the first end.
  • Practice will begin 10 minutes prior to the scheduled game time.

Last Stone Draw (LSD)

Purpose

  • Determines the first-end rock placement for all games.
  • Provides LSD totals for ranking, seeding, and potential tie-breaking.

Pre-Game LSD Procedure

  • The LSD will begin 10 minutes prior to the scheduled game time if the ice is ready.
  • The first team listed will use RED rocks
  • Teams alternate practice stones (2 per player: 1 away, 1 toward the glass).
  • Each player then throws 1 draw to the button toward the glass.
  • Red rocks will use clockwise rotation towards the glass
  • The combined distance determines the team with the lowest LSD total.
  • The team with the lowest total chooses rock placement in the 1st end.

Measurement Details

  • Measured to the nearest ¼ inch.
  • A stone covering the pin scores 0 inches.
  • A stone missing the rings scores 84 inches (6 feet + 1 foot).

Tied LSD Totals (Pre-Game)

If LSD totals are tied after both LSD draws have been thrown, flip a coin.

  • In the event of a tie when determining playoff seeding, the LSD totals will be applied as above

Stone Placement Advantage

In all playoff games, the higher-seeded team, as determined in the seeding process, will have the choice of stone handle colour OR last rock (hammer) in the first end.

Playoff Practice Option

If both teams agree, the teams may choose to throw 2 extra practice throws in place of the LSD procedure.
